Week of October 2, 2017
Crews will continue to work on elements of the south pavilion foundation. They will excavate soil, install steel reinforcing and place concrete as they continue work on grade beams and concrete footings. The remaining steel H-piles will be set this week. Expect work to take place on Saturday, October 7.
Crews completed the first phase of the rammed aggregate piers (RAPs) last week, constructing 50 RAPs. The waterline feeding the AMUC was relocated so that the steel H-piles could be set in place along the north side of the building. The relocation of the chilled waterlines was completed and they are now in service, and work started on portions of the south pavilion foundation.
And last, but not least -- you might have noticed, we removed the plywood protection and scaffolding on the AMUC, revealing an unobscured view of beautiful marble façade. This is the first time since 1986 that natural sunlight has streamed in through those windows! (See photo by Emory University above.)
Name That Equipment!
Let's do something different and fun this week! Although the CLC is a large site, oftentimes equipment needs to work in concert with each other in a small area on-site. Can you identify the six pieces of construction equipment visible in this photo and what they are working on? Answers next week!
